Special silicone-containing surface additive for solvent-based paint systems with a medium to strong reduction in surface tension and a slight increase in surface smoothness. Good flow with defoaming properties and good substrate wetting.

Chemical Basis

Special solvent mixture of a polyether-modified polydimethylsiloxane. Characteristics PRO-COAT is a highly effective silicone additive that reduces surface tension. This improves the wetting of critical substrates. In pigmented systems it can prevent the formation of Bénard cells and improve flow. Recommended additional amounts 0.1-1.5% additive as supplied on the total formulation, depending on the system and layer thicknesses.

Processing

The addition should be made at the start of production. Subsequent addition is possible, but PRO-COAT must be incorporated intensively.

Use during the production process

PRO-COAT is more optimally added after the dispersing / grinding batch, i.e. when the dispersing / grinding process has ended, after cooling and before letdown, PC is added with stirring. Then the approach is completed with the remaining components of the recipe. After completion, the approach should rest (mature) for 24 hours so that the PRO-COAT can develop its full effectiveness.

Use as a post-additive for subsequent incorporation

If PRO-COAT is to be used as a post-additive, PRO-COAT is added to the finished mixture while stirring and then mixed for 10 minutes at 10 - 15 m/sec. incorporated. After completion, the approach should rest (mature) for 24 hours so that the full effectiveness of the PRO-COAT can unfold.

Storage recommendation

Stir well before use. Keep container in a cool, well-ventilated place. Occasionally, traces of water may be contained, which have no influence on the effectiveness of the product and the quality. In order to maintain the product quality, the original container should be closed again immediately after each removal. The described properties of PRO-COAT are retained for at least 2 years if stored properly.
